Horse Floats Site in Australia

I'm helping some people out with their horse floats business in Australia. The site is based on the webs.com platform which allows a novice user to create a relatively nice site, but presents its set of challenges.

I actually found their site template quite nice but there is quite a lack in control and I guess that is the tradeoff. For their horse floats Sydney and horse floats Brisbane pages for example, I would have liked to control the page URLs a bit more finely such as by inserting dashes like horse-floats etc but that's not an option. The intended horse floats Coffs Harbour page got called "Coffs Harbour Floats" due to limitations on the allowed length of the page names = HTML title.

They've got a .com domain and the webs.com hosting is in the US - in such a case if you target Australian searchers you have to either shift your hosting to Australia (would necessitate a site rebuild), change to a .com.au domain (a bit drastic), or you have to indicate to Bingooglehoo that your site actually targets Australia. It's nicer for this to be derived naturally rather than using webmaster tools but aside from the above options, this is all you can do.

At least there aren't too many people with horse float websites out there so that makes life a little easier.

Update Oct 2010: They took the plunge and got someone to build them a Wordpress site on a .com.au domain. Great improvement. Now the page urls are done nicely (see 2 horse straight load and 3 horse angle load for example), the HTML titles are correct and the H tags (H1, H2 etc) are used correctly. They'll take a little hit for now but in the long term they'll see much better results. Yay for SEO advice - white hat stuff generally actually improves the internet.
